Salam & hi...

I've a few announcement to make about SSM...once you've read this post,kindly spread it around so that most of us will know about it!

1. On wednesday (6/5/09), there'll be a photoshoot session.. The photos taken during this photoshoot will be put in the abstract book (will be given to all during the SSM seminar a.k.a scientific meeting). It will be done by Iyas & Yu Jun so if anyone have problem regarding attending this photoshoot session, please contact them! The details are as follows:

Time & Place: 10am - 11am @ Galeri infront Auditorium PPUKM
9pm - 10pm @ Ibnu Sina
Attire: Formal with tie, NO JEANS please!

2. We are also looking for informal photos (e.g. during data collection, lab) for each group. If possible we want 10 for each group and you can pass it to either Iyas or Yu Jun anytime before the SSM seminar (Dateline on 20/5/09!!)

NOTICE TO CONTRIBUTORS

Manuscripts should be typed on one side of A4 paper and double-spaced throughout (including tables, legends and references) with wide margins.
An electric typewriter, letter quality or laser printer should be used. Do not use dot-matrix printer. 'San Serif' typefaces/fonts such as Helvetica are preferred.
The title page should state the title of the paper, initials and name(s) of the author(s), degrees (limited to one degree or diploma) and address(es). The name and address of the author for correspondence should be clearly indicated.
Names of authors should be written in style of initials followed by the surname or preferred name e.g., B.A.K. Khalid, K. Suresh, C.C. Chan or J. Brown.
Summary, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgment and References should follow each section beginning on a fresh page.

Case Reports

Papers on case reports (one to five cases) must follow these rules : maximum of 1,000 words; only one table is allowed; maximum of two photographs; only up to three references quoted.

Short Communications
Short communications should not exceed 1,000 words and shall consist of a Summary and the Main Text. The number of figures and tables should be limited to three and the number of references to five.

Letters to the Editor
Such correspondence must not exceed 450 words.

Summary and Key Words
A summary of not more than 250 words should be provided immediately after the title page. Below the summary, provide and identify 3 to 10 key words or short phrases that will assist indexers in cross-indexing your article. Use terms from all the medical subject headings list from Index Medicus where possible.

Introduction
Clearly state the purpose of the article. Summarise the rationale for the study or observation. Give only strictly pertinent references, and do not review the subject extensively.

Materials and Methods
Describe your selection of the observational or experimental subjects (patients or experimental animals, including controls) clearly, identify the methods, apparatus (manufacturer's name and address in parenthesis), and procedures in sufficient detail to allow other workers to reproduce the results. Give references to established methods, including statistical methods; provide references and brief descriptions of methods that have been published but are not well-known; describe new or substantially modified methods, give reasons for using them and evaluate their limitations.

Identify precisely all drugs and chemicals used, including generic name(s), dosage(s) and route(s) of administration. Do not use patients' names, initials or hospital numbers. Include numbers of observation and the statistical significance of the findings when appropriate.

When appropriate, particularly in the case of clinical trials, state clearly that the experimental design has received the approval of the relevant ethical committee.

Results
Present your results in logical sequence in the text, tables and illustrations. Do not repeat in the text all the data in the tables or illustrations, or both : emphasise or summarise only important observations.

Discussion
Emphasise the new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that follow from them. Do not repeat in detail data given in the 'Results' section. Include in the 'Discussion' the implications of the findings and their limitations and relate the observations to other relevant studies.

Conclusion
Link the conclusions with the goals of the study but avoid unqualified statements and conclusions not completely supported by your data. Avoid claiming priority and alluding to work that has not been completed. State new hypotheses when warranted, but clearly label them as such. Recommendations, when appropriate, may be included.

Acknowledgements
Acknowledge grants awarded in aid of the study (state the number of grant, name and location of the institution or organisation), as well as persons who have contributed significantly to the study.

Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission from everyone acknowledged by name, as readers may infer their endorsement of the data.

References
Number references consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Identify references in text, tables and legends by Arabic numerals (in parenthesis). References cited only in tables or legends to figures should be numbered in accordance with a sequence established by the first identification in the text of the particular table or illustration. Use the form of references adopted by the US National Library of Medicine and used in the Index Medicus. Use the style of the examples cited at the end of this section, which have been approved by the National Library of Medicine.

The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in the Index Medicus.

Try to avoid using abstracts as references; "unpublished observations" and "personal communications" may not be used as references, although references to written, not verbal, communication may be inserted (in parenthesis) in the text.
Include among the references manuscripts accepted but not yet published; designate the journal followed by "in press" (in parenthesis). Information from manuscripts should be cited in the text as "unpublished observations" (in parenthesis).

Tables and Illustrations
Roman numerals should be used for numbering tables. Arabic numerals should be used when numbering illustrations and diagrams. Illustrations and tables should be kept to a minimum.

All tables, illustrations and diagrams should be fully labelled so that each is comprehensible without reference to the text. All measurements should be reported using the metric system.

How's your holiday going on guys (and girls)?
First of all, i just want to say congratulation to Dina (and Farhan) for a wedding reception well-done (on 21st March 09), i pray so that both of you will be happy till the end (and hope you get the first baby in our batch,haha). I wonder who will end their bachelor days next...hm...

Going on the announcement:

1. On 11 - 12 April 09, there'll be a thyroid surgery symposium jointly organized by Surgical Dept. PPUKM and Asian Association of Endocrine Surgeon. You can find more detail in the buletin that i posted in Friendster and in my note that i posted in Facebook.

2. To all reseaters, good luck for your exam! All of us will always pray for your success so that we can graduate at the same time.

3. We will officially start our 5th year on 13th April 09. Suppossedly there will be the usual meeting with the dean that morning at 8am but still no news bout that..I'll keep you posted nevertheless.

4. Please photostat your result slip and pass it to me or Erida or Zairi as soon as possible. I'll be in KTDI starting from 6th April 09 (InsyaAllah). We want to settle about the JPA scholarship quickly.

5. As all of you had known, at the end of our 7 weeks of SSM, we will have a Seminar where we have to present our findings and all. A few days ago, Prof. Ruszymah called me and actually want us to organize it ourself (they will help in term of the money, so no need to worry there). So for those that is interested to be inside the organizing committee, please tell me.

Elective posting Part 4: Back to nature

Salam & hi...

Finally got some time to post up the last part. So, this'll be the last enrty for the events or places that I went to during my elective weeks.

+----- Picnic at Lata Meraung -----+

According to locals, in Jerantut there's one interesting recreation spot called Lata Meraung. So, we decided that we want to go there and have a little picnic. We wanted to do so ever since the first week here however, time really is not on our side. Luckily, after finishing our visit to the PDK (dunno what this is?please refer to part 1), we have lots of free time that evening so, we went to the hypermarket and bought some stuffs so that we can prepare something for the picnic.

1st dish was roti sardin wrap in popia skin, this is azuwa's and nisa's recipe. The 2nd one was bergedel and this was prepared by me & roy! (it taste good too,haha...). The 3rd was the durian that we bought earlier.

So, after we finished all the cooking we head to Lata Meraung at around 5pm or so. It's around 1 hour drive from bandar Jerantut in the direction to Kuala Lipis (and the road there is kinda creepy and dark because we have to traverse through a rubber plantation). So, we arrived around 6+ pm.

The best part about it was there's only 4 of us there at that time. And truly it is beautiful and the water is crystal clear (but no fishes,aiya...). We only played at the bottom because to get to the waterfall we need another 1 hour or so hike into the forest (clearly not a good idea as it was already 6pm).

+----- Taman Negara Pahang (National Park) -----+

The trip to Jerantut wouldn't be complete if we failed to visit Taman Negara. So, we decided to go there on saturday of the last week. That morning the girls prepared some ration (roti telur,french fries,roti ngn mayonis) to bring over during our trip.

Taman Negara is accessible via two route, either land or water (by boat and the jetty is located at Bandar Jerantut itself). We decided to access it via land and to go there, there's actually a signboard so you wouldn't get lost (you can either follow the signboard to Taman Negara or Kuala Tahan; from Jerantut, go on the direction of Kuantan or Jengka and you should find it or you can just take a bus from Jerantut). Either way the time taken would be close to 1 hour to arrive there.

We departed at 9am and the road is not a straight one and there's lots of 'chocolate cake' (as the locals called it) lying on the ground,haha...and sometimes either cows, birds, dogs or monkeys cross the road (actually we found one dead cow lying on the center of the road, almost hit it again though).

Arriving there, 1st thing is to get an entry permit and a camera permit each cost rm1 and rm5 respectively (both can be bought at the information counter and they'll provide you with a map as well). After obtaining that, we started our hike and went to two places. The 1st one was the Canopy Walkway (located 1.5km from the entrance).

The canopy walkway is very thrilling and according to the staff, the highest point is 70 metres (walao,must be very painful if you were to fall down). And during our turn to go on the walkway, there's actually a bunch of Singaporean boy scouts (aged less than 12 y/o i guess). They blatantly ignore the rules and literally jump up and down on the walkway causing it to shake very bad. Other than that, it was an awesome experience.

After that, we decided to climb up to Bukit Teresek. The peak is located 1.5km from the end of the canopy walkway. After getting some rest, we started the climb. It was tiring and halfway, nisa started complaining feeling dizzy and all and we were like afraid in case if she will suddenly get an asthmatic attack (middle of the forest + asthma attack + no inhaler = ....not good) but alhamdulillah everything went ok and we managed to achieved the peak (oh yeah!) and the view was amazing.

Then, we return back to the entrance because everyone is tired and the closest interesting place after that is more than 3km away! In total, to-and-fro, the hike was around 6km.

I guess this wraps up our elective weeks at Jerantut. Overall, our elective posting experience in Jerantut was awesome and really mind-opening as it allow us to meet the unfortunate people in the community and also learnt the process involved in aiding them (not to mention the vacation part,haha).

1 more thing; i would like to remind, Dina's wedding reception is this saturday so, let's go there everyone! do anyone have any plans to make a convoy?

Elective posting Part 3: 2nd Stop - Kuala Terengganu

Salam & hi...

Continuing from the previous post, Kuala Terengganu was our 2nd stop in our trip (this post will be full with pictures so,enjoy!). We stayed here at K.T. Traveller's Inn for rm79 per night for 2 nights. It was fun but very tiresome and we got burned more! We also did some shopping at Pasar Payang (this is the place where you can buy lots of different souvenirs including keropok if you want but i bought my keropok somewhere else). And sorry, no souvenirs for anyone this time, kinda on a tight budget here.

Before we actually arrived at KT, we stopped for a bit at Marang and have a quick bite (of air kelapa, keropok lekor & sotong goreng tepung) because one of us had been complaining about being hungry (and it wasn't me!).

The first place we visited upon our arrival was Masjid Tengku Tengah Zaharah a.k.a Masjid Terapung (Floating Mosque) and this is my 2nd time to the mosque (the first one was during the opkim organized by JAKSA KTSN). It still is beautiful and still floating,haha...And, during our visit, there seems to be an ongoing Akad Nikah ceremony.

Then we make our way to our hotel and take a break and that night we went to the Karnival Sua Rasa TV9 which was ongoing at that time at Dataran Shahbandar (our hotel is just a 5 minutes walk from the dataran). There's lots of people exhibiting their products, opening food stalls and one exhibition that caught my attention was the exhibition about kain Songket. It's because there's a real-life demonstration of Songket making! That makcik sure is skillful and patient because according to her, 1 songket will took about 3 weeks to be done (what?!no wonder it's expensive)

The next day, we decided to take a walk to Pasar Payang because it's also very close (15 minutes walk) but on the way there, we stop by at Bukit Puteri. It was okay and it's actually an old fort for the royalties and people if Terengganu was attack (kinda like A'Famosa in Melaka if you would like to imagine it). And we saw a shop with a very familiar name,hm....

Then off to Pasir Payang and I didn't buy much,only a couple of T-shirts for myself. The one who shop the most would be azuwa & nisa (girls,u really can't separate them from shopping can you).

We finished off at Pasar Payang at around 1pm and we took a short break at the hotel. After that, we went to Taman Tamadun Islam. It's located near the museum complex and a 15 minutes drive from our hotel. 2 main place is in here. 1 is the well-renowned Masjid Kristal (i think it looks more like a glass mosque than crystal -.-) and another is the Taman Monumen (here lies 21 replicas of mosque or monuments of Islamic origin from around the world!). And this is the place where we got extremely sunburned (because we stayed here from 2 - 5pm!)
After tiring (and burning) ourself to the max, we decided to go to kg. Losong to eat!

The following day, it's time for us to head back to Jerantut and we decided to go back early; at 8.30am. Why? Because I made an appointmet with Pn. Norhaslida (the Head of Biology Unit KMPh) to come to her house! But, before that, we sidetracked a while to Batu Rakit (a bit north of KT) to buy keropok at a shop called 'Keropok Sukaramai' (the keropok here is well-established to be good). Still, we managed to arrived at Pn. Has' house by 2pm and have our lunch there (thanks cikgu!)

And we finally arrived back at Jerantut at 5pm,huh...tiring...i was practically exhausted because i drove the whole stretch. But, nevertheless, it was fun-filled and enjoyable to the max! ^.^

Elective posting Part 2: 1st Stop - Cherating

Salam & hi

Now, on to the next part of my elective week..Over the weekend we actually have 3 complete day off (Saturday, Sunday and the public holiday on Monday for Maulidur Rasul). So,we decided to go sumwhere to spend the time (and getting sunburned in doing it).

1st stop - Cherating Beach

We start our journey at approximately 11am on Friday (tq to En. Quril for allowing us to slip out early). On the way to Cherating, we actually stop by at KMPh! Nothing much changed and i managed to meet up with a few lecturers. I'll post it up in the next post.

We arrived in Cherating at around 5pm and we managed to find a Chalet which cost us rm80 per night,quite reasonable and the chalet is nevertheless clean.
In my opinion, the beach is nice and there's minimal sign of pollution so it's actually a nice escape place if you like the beach. But, i forgot to bring a tracksuit so,no jumping in the water for me but i do play at the side.

Elective posting Part 1: At PKMD Jerantut

How are all of you doing?
Yesterday i just got back from my elective posting at PKMD (Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat Daerah) Jerantut. FYI,it was from 2 - 13 march 09 and i did it with Roy, Azuwa & Annisaa.
For me,it was superb and very worthwhile although very tiring (and i got fever,runny nose and otitis media in the process,aiya)..at least it taught me how actually the welfare of the community is taken care of!

The journey to Jerantut started on 1/3/09 and for our 1st night there, we stayed in a traveller's lodge (cost us rm15 per room) and after that until the end of the posting we stayed in the workers' quarters of Desa Bina Diri (i'll explain what exactly is this DBD further down), thanks to aid given by Pn. Noor Hayati (the Head of PKMD Jerantut). Azuwa & Nisa stayed with 2 nurses who worked in DBD and Roy & me stayed with the attendants and officers of DBD and STB (Sekolah Tunas Bakti, which i'll also explain further down).

So,what exactly did we do there? well,we just followed the staffs there to do their field work and also linger around in the office. A few thing i would like to highlight is how nice the staffs there actually are! And their office is so open you can sit anywhere you want but there's still a few cubicle if you want to get a job done in private. I still remember waht one the staff said, "dudukla mane2 pon ye, kami x kisah pon,". Our supervisor there was En. Quril Sahabudin.

The first activity that we joined in was the court proceedings regarding juvenile cases (below 18 y/o). We went to the court there and follow the proceedings and it was a good 2 hours in total and a whole new experience for me. :D

.:: it was actually done at the Mahkamah Syariah because the Mahkamah Majistret is being renovated ::.

Then, we followed Pn. Norzilah (we called her kak Zi) to the house of the applicants that apply for the financial aid from JKM. Basically, it involves seeing the house and asking a series of question then deciding whether the apllicants is eligible for the aid or not (one thing that amaze me was, even though they apply for the aid, they still have an Astro subscription! When we asked the staffs they said that, Astro there is a necessity not a luxury because it's impossible to get a TV signal using the conventional antennae).

After that, we went to Desa Bina Diri (DBD) Jerantut. It was very saddening to see the people that are in this institution. They are people that were rejected by the community (a.k.a homeless) and some were rejected by their own children (you ungrateful scum!!). And about half of the occupants sufferred from psychiatric disorders (mostly Schizophrenia). The occupants there basically did nothing except from eat, walk around, watch TV & sleep. Only a few is fit enough to take care of the plants and help in the kitchen. Oh, and it's all male there. According to the Penguasa (some sorta like the head there), En. Azmi, there's also other DBD in other states for females.

The next day, we spent the day in STB Jerantut. This is a specialized institution for juvenile delinquents (contrary to popular believe, it's not a conventional school). Most of them are ones that done something really bad (stealing, rape, assault, etc) and a few were sent here by their family because they were 'uncontrollable' (running away from home, etc). It's all males here (similar to DBD, there's also other STB for females in other states). Because they're all very able, they were taught different skills such as planting crops, herding cows & sheeps, metal works, electronics, etc. Only a handful were allowed to go to normal schools (after they were evaluated to be safe & have the spirit and potential to study).

From 6 - 9 March, all of us took a break & went for holiday!!! I'll touch on this in the next part of the update, ok?

In the second week, we kickstarted it by tagging along with kak Ila, Ida (she's younger than us!) and one more akak (i couldn't remember her name, if you are reading this, i'm sorry -.-) to do something called 'Projek Cari'. It's almost similar like what we did with kak Zi previously but the 3 of them act as the 1st representative from JKM to go to the applicants house (so, if you want aid from JKM it actually involves the rep from JKM coming twice to your house!) after getting information from the penghulu of the village or area. We went to an area called Damak (trust me, i think my car was practically 'crying') and it's an eye-opening experience to actually meet with people who is actually, as the government put it, 'miskin tegar'.

The next day, we went to a place called PDK or Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti with En. Hadi (one of my housemate there). This center caters for people with learning difficulties or dissabilities (Down syndrome, Autism, deaf, etc). In contrary to KL or other major cities, there's no specific center or NGO that caters for this special group. In this center, they were slowly taught to understand simple things such as doing everyday routine and simple learning task (counting, ABC, etc). So, to all my fellow future doctors, keep this in mind, in case in the future you are in a district hospital somewhere not-so-like-KL and you have a special patient you'll know where to refer them to.

Off from the PDK, it's time to go to Taska (Taman Asuhan Kanak2) with En. Hanafi. You should know what it's for rite? No need further explanation here. We actually went to 2 Taska. The kids were so adorable and at the first one, the kids there actualy cried when we left! :D I have a great time playing with them & i pray so that they will have the best of luck in their life and may Allah protect them.

That's basically our last official activity at the PKMD. And after we got back from visiting the Taska, we don't have anything to do so we basically linger around and then we decided to slip out and went to Mentakab to Hakim's house and have lunch there! (thanks to his little sister)

We actually planned to organized a farewell party on Friday (the last day) but then before we slip out earlier, one of the staff there which is kak Mi ask us whether we'll be back in the office in the evening so, we kinda thought something fishy is going on so, we decided to stop by in Temerloh and buy a cake from Secret Recipe. And spot on, as we've guessed, they really had organized a farewell party for us!! How sweet.... Thanks again!! :D

That wraps up our elective in PKMD Jerantut but other than the official activity, there's also other not-so-official activities a.k.a jalan2,haha. Wait for it in the next part! Till then!

2 happy things happenned yesterday.
1st: it's my birthday according to the hijriyah calendar (19 Rabi'ul Awal, so hepi besday to me) and only 1 person remember it and actually wished me, tq ika!
2nd:accidentally went to C&S with lin, fana & fana's sister (Nabilah if i'm not mistaken),haha.... :D

Salam & hi...

Alhamdulillah,i'm grateful to Allah for giving me & my friends good result in the most recent exam & giving us chance to continue to the final year (and closer to bearing a really really heavy responsibility as a Doctor)...

So, here i just want to say congratz to those that pass the exam & i'll see u in 5th year
To the one that have to reseat the exam, i wish u all good luck & all the best & i pray hard so that i will see u in 5th year, insyaAllah....

One objective done, now it's on to the next; time to execute the plan. To those that know what i'm going to do, wish me luck & pray so that it went smoothly, to those that don't know, pray for me too :)

salam & hi...

finally, the 4th year final exam is over!! can rest for awhile now from all the studying and catch up on all the games & sleep (haha)..but seriously, the osce part of ortho is a bit hard but overall i guess it's okay..now,i can only pray that all of us will be able to pass the exam, go for elective posting then start the final year, insyaAllah..

so, on with the real purpose of this posting! post-exam,it's time to relax to da max,haha...
so,i went for a movie session with my friends on Thursday after the osce session, 2 movies exactly, one in the evening (Pink Panther with hajar, lala, wani & farah) and another one in the midnight (Red Cliff Part 2 with roy), both at MidValley..

Both of this movies were nice and entertaining..Pink Panther is a family movie,a lot of stupid jokes but okay la but there is not much pink color going around,haha..Red Cliff was superb, the war was depicted very well with all the fire and ships going boom,yeah!love it!

Then, from saturday to sunday, i'm off to Kem Isi Rimba in Kg. Kemensah, it's located around 5 minutes from Zoo Negara. It's an all-boys outing, around 18 ppl in total joined it. It's tiring but i guess it's worth it!
At first i thought we are going to stay inside a tent but we stayed in a hut, each hut was occupied by 3 ppl (it's okay la but i woke up more than 10 times in the night, haha..)
There were a lot of mosquitoes, they were practically like a friend...and both my sandal and shoe gone out of order & got to be thrown off,haih...

The activities arranged were great, on Saturday we kick-off with paintball fights, 5 session each person, nice, i was shot around 8 times with 1 to the head,haha..fun fun...
It was followed by the abseilling session, it took me 2 attempts to get up the platform coz because the first time i climbed the rope-ladder my body posture was wrong, the second session i got it right (with the help of others,haha..)..it was exhilarating!! but a bit funny too...in the night it's the bbq session but the food is so little,aiya...

on Sunday, again we played paintball first, 2 session then it's 1+ hour jungle trekking and hiking to the waterfall there...it's tiring but the moment we saw the waterfall, all of the tiredness was washed away and the only word fit for it would be 'Subhanallah',it's so beautiful!! After that, it's only a 30+ minutes hike back to the Kem (somehow, we used a shorter but steeper path)..

That wrap up the Kem...it was so tiring, the moment i got back to my room i slept for 3 hours and woke up with muscle ache,haha...

how's your study week going along? i hope its fine! :)
Over here is a news that i hope will boost your morale in going into the exam!
last thursday, I & erida were honored with the chance to discuss about our 5th year curriculum with Prof. Nabishah at her office. It was a fruitful discussion and here, i would like to update all of you about it.. be reminded that this is still NOT YET CONFIRMED 100% because it haven't been approved by the senate yet.

1. Our holiday at the end of this 4th year will start on 14/2/09 and will end on 12/4/09. And it will be our last long holiday coz in 5th year, we'll only have 1 week for Aidilfitri and 1 week for CNY. Make sure you finish your elective posting by 12/4/09!

2. We'll start with SSM for 7 weeks followed by PPD Camp 3 for 1 week. Nice arrangement, give us a little break in between!

3. Then, from 8/6/09 till 19/2/10 we'll be divided into 5 groups and will be undergoing these postings:

Family Medicine (5 weeks) + Emergency Medicine (2 weeks)
Internal Medicine
Surgery
Paediatric
O&G

For all of these postings, the 5 group will have a short stint in either Slim River Hospital, *correction Teluk Intan Hospital, GHKL or Klinik Kesihatan Bt. 9 Hulu Langat.

4. *(Important!!!) For forensics, we are given until 24/7/10 to complete 10 observations, perform 2 and write 2 reports of postmortem cases. It's the continuation of what we are doing now!

5. We'll have 4 weeks of study leave (22/2/10 - 19/3/10) before heading into the Pro Exam on 22/3/10 - 2/4/10!

Well, i guess that's the news and again i remind that it is NOT confirmed yet. I hope it raise your spirit to go into the exam!!

It's been a while after the last post, guest i been missin' out the post on some events (dinner, short case, etc) but that can be done later (if ever, hahaha)

Anyway, i just want to wish good luck to all my fellow friends & coursemate for the upcoming 4th year final exam! I know you guys can do it (esp. to those that have a study group) & i pray so that all of us will be given an excellent result & hope that we will be given calmness in this 2 weeks and during the exam itself!

oh, i also would like to apologize for any wrongdoings to everyone & if i ever have any debt to anyone that i may have forgotten, please remind me! :)

How's everyone doing? Especially about the dinner preparation? Are you ready!!?? :)

Another quick announcement:

1. For the dinner, bus will be prepared tomorrow (10/1/09) for those that don't have own transport and will be at 6pm. Please wait at the audi. About the table arrangement, we will open the counter for the table at 7pm tomorrow at KDE to be fair with everyone. Just sent a representative to book the table (make sure there are 10 ppl per table!)

2. Next week, we will have the last (hopefully) common lecture entitled "Deafness" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asma (ENT) at Auditorium at 4pm-5pm.

3. About the elective posting, it's confirmed that we will only be doing it for 2 weeks only. If possible, please submit the proposal to the Academic Office before study week!

I guess that's all the announcement from me for now!

Today, will be a gloomy day (supposedly) for all UKM staffs and students...For those that don't know (and those that knew) we've lost our Canselor, Almarhum Tuanku Ja'far Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

His highness passed away this morning at 11.45am at Hospital Tuanku Jaafar Seremban and was reported to be due to stroke (i believe it was intracerebral hemorrhage coz he complained of headache & without no obvious neurological deficit)..

Nevertheless, my condolences goes to the family of his highness and also to all people of Negeri Sembilan, the state will be mourning for 40 days if i'm not mistaken..

I just want to announce that the pending issues about the elective posting for the 4th year medic students were settled already (for those that forget, its about shortening of the duration & about the ssm groups), however due to some problem up there the results were still not given to me yet to be spread to the mass.

I just want to share with all of you this funny poem that i found as i was watching the movie, "Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay" (it's a nice movie but i wouldn't recommend it to sumone less than 18 y/o)..
It's a funny poem but the meaning of it is really deep (it's not that hard to understand)..

A spectacular sky scene!

just want to share with all of you a spectacular scene that i'd saw earlier this evening..
at first when i glanced upon the starless night sky just this evening i thought that it would be the same sky scene that i've been seeing all along but i was wrong...i was really really really speechless when i saw it, the only word uttered was 'subhanallah'...

isn't it amazing?it is as if the whole space is smiling down on you and it is really refreshing to see it and it lifted up my mood tonight~~ and i'm glad that i shared it with 2 of my friends that i cared most ;)
scientifically, the 'eyes' are actually the 2 brightest planets in the solar system, Venus & Jupiter and the 'smile' is actually the crescent moon; you can read more about it at Yahoo News.
ultimately, it is really something only Allah s.w.t can do :)

My 22nd Birthday (cont'd)

this is the continuation from the previous post about my 22nd birthday~~
yesterday was a great day! i managed to celebrate my birthday with my parents and siblings!! they're in kL coz my father attended a conference here in Sunway.
so,it's just a simple celebration where we went for a lunch in Sunway & man, i'm full till nite yesterday, haha...

so, after the lunch my mum & dad ask me whether i want to go shopping or not for my birthday..being me, i said "okla," haha...

then we went to SenQ & i was just playing when i said i want an LCD tv but then my dad said...
"em, macam ok je tv nih..haaa, ambikla,"
& i was like, "........" (shocked)

so, there it was, my best birthday present so far from my parents, a 32-inch Samsung LCD tv! gosh, i am so going to play lots & lots of games after this....haha...thanks pops!

well then, now i need to go eat, havent ate my dinner yet (fortunately, i am not on a "misi" like shah & lala, haha, sry guys, no hard feelings okeyh?)

My 22nd Birthday

after a long long long break, another post for another significant event in my life!
today i celebrate my 22nd birthday!!!
1 year older, 1 year closer to death (......)
but my wish for this year is that, i hope i can be a better person than last year, especially coz i'm closer to bearing a responsibility as a doctor (and a you-know-what,haha..)..i hope Allah gives me the strength to go on this road that i've chosen and i get a good result for it...insyaAllah....

anyway, my birthday celebration this year kicks off in quite a way when 9 of my frens organized a small party for me at oldtown white coffee in sumwhere-near-UM yesterday (d funny thing is i haven't complete my case write up yet at that time, haha...)
and coincidentally, all of them wore white shirts with jeans & i'm the only one wearing a black shirt with jeans, haha...

looks like this year's Ramadhan is coming to a close in an hour time & opening the door for celebration in Aidilfitri...
I'm glad & grateful to Allah for giving me the nikmat of Ramadhan this year...
I'm also glad because i've completed my goals for this years Ramadhan, what is it?lets keep it a secret between me & god...
I'm also happy because i only miss sahur 1 time!
Right now, i'll just pray so that my puasa for the last 30 days were accepted, amin....

finally the last update for the final day in Tokyo, Japan! For the final day, we decided to go on a walk around Japan (running occasionally,haha)...forgot to mention in the last update, after the trip to Disneyland, all of us were sent to different hotels to stay in for the night & i had the craziest dinner i ever had which comprises only of rice+nori (seaweed)+ice coffee...wut?!but i'm still grateful coz at least i found sumthing to eat...haih...

Looks a lot? We spend about 12+ hours to go to all of it!! And it was fun!! Oh, we again divided into 3 groups, the same as last time at Disneyland, dunno why...maybe same minds think the same?haha... Sadly, there were no pictures taken in Asakusa (u can see the pics in my post for the 5th day), Akihabara and Roppongi this time...

Only one word is fit to describe it: magnificient! The scenery was breathtaking, the lushful greens, the traditional architecture, etc... It's really worth it if you are a fan of ancient & historic places!! To get here is simple, it's just a 15 minutes walk from Tokyo station!

After finishing up in Ginza, we went to Asakusa, then to Akihabara, next is Roppongi and the final stop for the day would be Odaiba! This is where the famous Rainbow Bridge is located...1st impression; It looks almost identical to Penang bridge from far but what's more is that it has two floors!the upper floor is for the cars & other vehicles to use, the lower floor is for the train tracks, nice! But it do looks nice at night, sadly we don't have much time here because we need to rush to catch the last train to narita..

well, after that we rush off quickly to the train station, hoping to catch the last train to narita because we are staying in Tobu Narita Hotel for the night because it's close to Narita Airport...And boy i tell ya, it was tiring & funny a bit, haha...

well, that's the update for the final day in Tokyo, Japan..Overall, what i can say about Tokyo is that, it's really clean! In comparison to kL, it is like heaven and earth. The girls are also very kawaii~~ But i still love Malaysia (& Malaysians, hehe..)!! And Japanese people really have good manners, example:

To cross the road, they'll wait until the light turn green no matter if the road is empty!!
On escalators, they'll stick to the left side if they are not rushing off so the right side would be free to walk on if you are rushing!
The cashier will always mentioned your total price of items, how much you pay and your balance no matter which shop you are in!

I guess that's all for my AMSC experience, got nothing more to add..I've also reached my goal of taking more than 1000 pics in Japan! Yay~

it's the 8th day in Japan and guess what, we went to Disneyland!! woohoo.....
but that's just it, no other place today, haha.... For me, this was my first time going to Disneyland and personally i think it was fun! Even tho we really feel hungry during the evening because we only stuff ourself with tea & fries in the afternoon but i think its okay la.... we were split into 3 groups; 1st:me,roy,ipah,hajar,zatil...2nd:fazrul,fariz...3rd:fattah,lala,meklin...of course the most havoc of 'em all would be my group,haha...The rides were cool, except for the ghost house which was not scary at all (maybe because we don't understand Japanese)... AMSC Japan: d 7th day, d end & d enjoyment

salam & hi...

finally we come to the 7th a.k.a the last day of AMSC (but not the last day in Japan!)...its been fun for the past 7 days but i guess everything have its end rite? Even tho the real thing has end but the memories will be etched in our mind & heart forever!! (unless if you got dementia or amnesia then you'll forgot it la,haha....joudan dayo!)

Actually the final day starts withthe closing ceremony 1st..hm...i thought that it's kinda weird because we still have a few activities to be done later but who am I to question it rite? Besides, they've done a superb job in organising it, kudos to all the organizing committee for all your hardwork!! One thing worth highlighting here is that, Malaysia was crowned no. 3 for the paper presentation!! Congratz to roy, ipah & lin for doing a great job, looks like your hardwork pay off!! But they made a mistake when announcing it, they accidentally swapped it with the poster, so, ipah was dissapointed coz she's not able to go up to the stage and received the award, kesian ipah.... (_ _)

So, in the evening we still have our workshop (and later the closing dinner!). I chosed the tea & also the board game workshop. The first up would be the tea ceremony workshop ("sadou" in nihon)...it's really cool & full of art but the real tea taste so bitter but i still can bear it, besides the girl that was serving it was just super cute~~~ (*-*) hahaha.....
Next is the board game workshop where they teach us about the traditional board game of Japan. It was fun and because i've already know a bit about go, i decided to challenge my GM to a game of go, i almost won but later loss it (54 - 55), haih....

In the night, first up would be the closing dinner/party...the clothing theme was traditional so the m'sians put on our baju melayu (except for a few that didn't want to follow it) and enjoy the night! The foods were nice (and its Halal!), the performances were good (the performance from Taiwan was very....umm....kinky) and we got to exchange souvenirs!! That's the best part of it!haha...but the not so fun part is the PA system is very very faulty, so the performances sometimes look like crap... ('~')

AMSC Japan: d 6th day, d old folks & d most serene place in Tokyo

moving on to the next day of AMSC, the 6th! A lot of things happened that day but the most memorable would be the one in the evening,why?read on!!

This morning i woke up late! 8.30am so, i miss the breakfast, sob...sob... then at 9.00am we were having a group presentation on the fieldtrip the day before and the case discussion in the SGD earlier...it was fun with some groups making some sketch, great work guys!! and most of my group members have a bad hang-over coz they chow in lots of booze,huh...

In the afternoon we have our community vist & the destination this time was an Old Folks' House (thank god it's not far like the previous two places)..we have a good time there meeting with the old people and we even dished out some of our best performances!! Ephied & Odenk with their Indonesian dance, Cedric & Tom with their Korean dance and i was alone in performing the Zapin! and guess what, the old folks love my Zapin!!hohohoho... (^.^) too bad i don't have the photos of me doing it, huh...

after finishing our session at the old folks' house, we had like 4+ hours time to ourself and we decided to split up and do whatever we want...me having lots of free time like that then remebered a place where i haven't had time to go to earlier and it's such an important place to go...where?the place is...............

.......TOKYO JAMI'E MOSQUE!!!! the first word that i uttered when i found it was 'subhanallah'..it was so beautiful & calm that i am at lost of words when i'm there, it felt so good to finally be in a place where i feel so calm & relaxed....for those that want to go to this mosque: you take the "Odakyu line" to go to "Yoyogi-Uehara" station, then from there exit thru the "north exit", make left, another left and at the main road, cross it, make a right, another 3 minutes walk and voila, you are there!

after spending my whole evening at the mosque it's time to go back and went to the keynote lectures (after the dinner of course) but during the lecture i slept about 70% of the time, haha..... and because i found it to be quite boring, i mischieviously skip the lecture midway & decided to go to......

.......TOKYO TOWER!!! And i was not alone, accompanied by my trusty co-culprit, Lala, haha.... (but actually we arrived there a bit late so we cannot go up to the top floor...haih....) nevertheless, it was fun being there and on the way back we stop for a while in roppongi and bump into roy, ipah, zatil & hajar..we even found a 'ayam golek' stand!! we are so so so happy to finally eat chicken meat after being here for close to 1 week,haha... and the situation where we have to run to catch up the last train of the day sure was cool,ask Lala bout it,haha...

That's what happened in the 6th day, it was fun but nevertheless enlightening....My advice, for those of you that planned to go to Japan, you must include both Tokyo Jami'e Mosque and Tokyo Tower in your must-visit place, trust me, it's worth it!!

AMSC Japan: d 5th day, d field trip & d party

salam & hi...

after a really really really long hiatus,now i'm back wif the update on AMSC (haha,felt nostalgic)...sorry yaa,i just don't have the enthusiasm like shah or the other bloggers to sit in front of my computer and update my blog like every week...
so, on to the 5th day; today we went for the field trip & the destination of choice was "Yokohama Sports Medical Center" in Shin-Yokohama!! In comparison to other group, our group got the furthest & most exclusive place for the fieldtrip,too bad for not being group 23,hahaha....it took close to an hour train ride & walk to get there but it's worth it!

AMSC Japan: d 4th day, d patient & d culture

another update~~~ today was a good day, tiring but good...for this entry i decided to keep d words to the minimum so that you guys wouldn't feel bored, once again let d pictures tell d story!!! (progress so far for d pic: 396/1000)

+----- d 4th day -----+

today i woke up very late, around 8.30am, fortunately i've done d subuh prayers...d reason for d late-ness was due to me sleeping at 4.30am coz i waited for d subuh time (at 3am supposedly but play games a bit here & there)...due to that, i missed my breakfast so i decided to buy a can of coffee & make that my breakfast, lol...
1st activity, AMSA M'sia booth!! it shows almost all d activities that was done by all uni in Malaysia regarding NCD, quite nice, congratz guys!!
even though i missed d breakfast, there's no way i'm missing d lunch! it was great & i enjoy every bit of it!!

+----- d hospital trip -----+

post-lunch, we need to go to sumwhere far (ofuna, near Kanagawa) for the hospital visit...basically we went there by the train & it's a nice experience!! i even got to learn some Japanese words, tq hide-san!!
arriving at the hospital we were greet by a hematologist (forgot her name already) and was guided to the doctor's lounge to attend a briefing session & a PBL session with 2 Dr, one from UK and one from Japan...
for the PBL, we got a case on "paroxysmal severe cough" for 9 days duration...bascially we put up loads of differential and the Dr said he will be sending us d true answer after this...i'll be waiting~~~~
then, we r suppose to meet a patient (c/o: abdominal pain for 6 months, intermittent, radiate to back centrally), however, he was not in the ward when we came...so, we ended up seeing all his C T & ultrasound....
after that, we went back to Sangubashi station before going back to NYC but 3 people were missing!!! fortuantely, they just forgot to take off at the station, then they get off at next station & went back to sangubashi!! huh......

fortunately we r performing 4th because i was quite late d/t some GI prob, haha...
basically, d night was superbly done with a lot of dance & songs, d nicest should be from UK but the most outrageous (+stupid) would be from Australia, haha....
actually for the Zapin we've made mistake initially d/t some people exiting so slow from on-stage....
then, it was a photograph frenzy!!evryone was busy taking pictures here & there & i was included!! (of course)....

AMSC Japan: d 3rd day, d food & d super-happy feeling

this is the entry for the third day and for me, today was oen of the best day from the 3 days in AMSC coz it starts nicely and ends with a blast!yeah!! i've put up more pictures for this entry and for record, i've taken a total of 294 pictures so far (still far from the 1000 pics that i aim for...) enjoy!!

today we would have to travel by bus to Tokyo University to attend the paper presentation session & we went there quite early so, d breakfast was given inside the bus...on the way there, i'd saw so many things & good buildings but 1 thing that caught my attention was a car that looks like a Kancil, yea seriously!! d pic is down there...Tokyo university was quite a nice place and it looks very old & classic!

(with a few others of course, namely Su Yan & Sze Wern) they done a good job of representing Malaysia..and actually when Malaysia was called to present all of us shout "Malaysia BOLEH!!", in view of the spirit of Malaysians!!!

after d paper presentation, we were supposed to go for sightseeing around Tokyo but because it was getting late (6.10pm) and the weather was not so pleasant (raining), we just ended up eating our dinner and then was given free time until night, before the country meeting a.k.a Zapin practice...

* finally.....d dinner but finish de, it's chicken with curry (halal ok...) *

finishing d dinner, suddenly i got a msg from Zatil asking all of us whether we want to go out or not so after dinner i'd decided to go to her room (i joined Fazrul and Hajar in going there) for some planning session of where to go & what to buy...
so then we planned to go to Shinjuku to do some survey for all the electronics and maybe buy a few (actually we did, haha...)...out of the 4, only me & zatil actually went there coz Hajar & Fazrul said they don't want to buy anything....

so, at Shinjuku we used the map and searched for a shop called "Sudobashi Camera" that sells various electronics including cameras, home appliances, PC and game consoles...we actually took 20+ minutes to get there, i tried asking for direction from a Japanese lady & used a bit of Japanese that i knew & d funny thing was seh replied fully in Japanese & i was dumbfounded, haha....

i surveyed the price of PSP there & actually want to buy it but....it is DVD region 2 locked so it can only play UMD from Japan so i cancel the intention...then i surveyed the price of Nintendo Wii, it was quite nice but the menu is in Japanese.....hm......should i buy it?what do you think?
then Zatil's attention was caught by a Mickey Mouse-shaped mp3 and she bought it after a careful consideration....

we then move on to the camera department in hope of buying a camera that Cash asked zatil to buy & lastly we bought him a Sony Cybershot T-70 camera...But it took 1 hour for Cash to actually made up his mind (zatil msg him over & over again) and that caused us to be late for the Zapin practice, so to cash, here's some announcement from me & zatil:

d conclusion: so....do you guys pickup anything that caused me to be in a "super-happy feeling"? i'm not going to disclose it just yet~~~ guess ok? haha....

AMSC Japan: d 2nd day, d happiness & d dissapointment

like i promise, this is d update on the 2nd day of AMSC..however, currently i'm not feeling too good so, maybe the entry is going to look like crap..i've put up more pictures this time around,let it tell the stories, enjoy!

the day starts off great, woke up around 7am like that (sleep after subuh, around 3am)...then it's d breakfast (it cost rm14+!! fortunately it's covered inside the fees), taste nice, especially the smoked mackerel!i forgot to take d picture tho....haha...

then, it's d opening ceremony & d keynote lecture...it was dry, i slept >50% of d time, d topic was "health & civilization" by Dr. Shigeru Omi...at least i remember the title at d very least, lol....
the SGD come up next, it was fun especially when we discussed bout the foods in our country of origin...the 2nd part of d SGD was like a mini-PBL session where we were given a case of metabolic syndrome, good case!! then, the GMs told us that for the upcoming field trip, we'll be going to "Yokohoma Sports Medical Centre", all of us in group 23 was ecstatic bout it, yeah!!!

in d evening, is d opening reception a.k.a our dinner with a performance of traditional music from Japan (cool~~)...it was done at the 45th floor of the "Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building" and the view from there were superb; Tokyo during night time=priceless....i also had a good time here, made some new friends and manage to take a few pictures with my GM, my groupmate and especially with lala, ipah, zatil, roy & lin, huahua...

at the end of the night, sumthing happened that caused me to be truly pissed off & have a bit of setback..basically, in the end i ended up exploring shinjuku all by myself , not that i mind about going out alone (i like to go out alone) but there is another aspect of this story that i am dissapointed with...basically, THANK YOU guys for actually giving me this wonderful realisation of everything, that's all that i can say...noobs! X(

AMSC Japan: d flight, d 1st day and d exhaustion...

Finally, an update from Japan!!! this will be d 1st update & i'll try to update it every night if i got the will & strength to do so, thanks to the free internet usage in the National Youth Center, Tokyo (the conference accommodation)...

there were too many pictures, about more than 70 pictures just for the 1st day!! so, i'll just put up the most relevan (and funnier) ones, haha...

our flight were scheduled on thursday 11.30pm and we were onboard MH88, a MAS airline plane..d flight was cool & very nice, especially d food, hehe...however, early into the flight there was a bad weather condition causing the plane to sometimes shake a bit but Alhamdulillah everything went well after that..it took 7 1/2 hours to reach japan and we reached Japan at about 7.30am in the morning & the first thing that came up to my mind was, "this place is hot!", even though the temperature is about the same as in Malaysia, in Japan the condition is hot & dry!!

it was very very very tiring, that's all that i can conclude for the 1st day, haha...but it was fun although initially when we arrive at Narita no one from the organizing commitee was there to greet us, we ended up had to wait for nearly an hour!
then we were taken to the National Youth Center, Tokyo (d accommodation place for d conference) by bus and this give us time to appreciate Tokyo..d thing that i can say bout it is: it is so damn clean!! you can hardly find a rubbish!! and the people have better road manners!! however, funny things are, almost all working people are wearing a white shirt with black pants, no one was wearing other dark colored shirt and there were people jogging in the middle of the day, talk about being bizarre, haha....

d room in the NYC was ok, it was a single room, a bit small & tight but hey, we are going to stay here for at most 8 days only so it'll be okay in my opinion..
we 1st register ourself and ended up have to pay 19000 yen!! fortunately i changed some money before going to Japan, huh...
then there was a group ice-breaking session, my group was (and will be) group 23 with two nice GMs (group master, not guild master or whatsoever ok?), sayaka-san (she's cute, hehe) & taka-san (he's nice)...
my group comprise of 16 people and were from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Australia and even UK! all were nice & very cooperative!
after the ice-breaking session we had a game called "sugoroku" and this involved throwing a dice and going to checkpoints to do a task to get marks, at the end of the day, winners were chosen, however, my team lose...but never mind, it's d fun that was worth it rite?
in the night, we have our 'welcoming party' but it's more of an informal dinner..d foods were nice and d best part of it was, almost everything were halal to be eaten!! looks like the OC really took good concern towards the Muslim delegates, thank you guys!!
then we had a meeting & practice session for the cultural performance. For the cultural night, UMS would perform 'sumazau', UM with 'inang' and UKM with 'zapin'...i think it's progressing well..
problems were not many, even about the solat we managed to get the time & qiblat for it..only the bath is the problem, it is set to be public bath style!! a new experience for me!! haha...

i know that this post is like outdated but it comprises of a few events yg occur pre-AMSC, it was fun to have this events and hope can do it again after i got back from AMSC!!!

1. Weekend yg dipenuhi durian F.O.C!!

well, d weekend prior to AMSC, shah balik rumah & guess what, dier bwk balik byk buah durian, manggis & rambutan..Dan disebabkn aku amat minat terhadap durian (confirmed by my ability to chow down 2+ biji durian at 1 seating alone, haha), aku trus menyerang buah durian shah yg innocent itu, killiing spree!!

d night 1 day prior to d flight, aku xleh nk tdo..sbb ader repot 'session with carer' yg perlu disiapkan plus nk packing barang (tp kn, siap packing barang tu cume pd jam 7pm ari nk flight tu, haha)...

so, mase jam tu strike 4.30am aku pon decide mahu pegi sahur ke oldtown...ajak shah skali & aku drive kete kancil dier, sempit tp best sbb xder power steering, haha....naim ngn shah x ikot sbb diorang bru abes maen C&C so mls la nk ajak diorang, kasi diorang tdo...

today was really a fun day, full of shocking things & surprises (d one that get you in the fight-or-flight mode, haha) but the best part of it was in the morning, tq to psych dept for it :P

1. teaching with dr nik ruzyanei

in the morning while i was still sleeping (man, i woke up late today, around 9.ooam, damn....), suddenly i got a call from puan nurul of psych dept. saying this:

puan nurul: hello, shukri?
aku: ye?
puan nurul: skarang ader klas ngan dr nik eh
aku:.........huh?!klas?!katne? (dalam hati; bukan dr nik ader clinic ke ari ni...)
puan nurul: iye, kat bilik perpustakaan dept., britau kawan2 laen ye
aku:............ F5
puan nurul: faham ke x nih?
aku: oh ye ye, faham, tq kak.... F7

then, i was frantically msg-ing all my group members who 2 of them i think still sleeping (after coming to class they told me ler) but names are kept secret here, haha...at that time, my sympathetic system went into overdrive mode and start to get a stomach-ache...
but thankfully all of us managed to join in (except 1 person who was late) and the teaching went well with the 5th year presenting 2 cases and all 4th yr have the job of answering all the basic questions, tq dr nik!! F2 :)
she's really2 nice & i think she'll make this psych posting a really wonderful experience for me even though i am not really incline to liking psychiatry, hehe... later i'll put up her picture with all my other groupmate in psych

2. zapin at bangi

then in the evening a total of 9 of us (me, fazrul, roy, yew lok, lala, ipah, lin, zatil, hajar) went to bangi to perform our zapin to the artisukma rep., kak lin...
it was nice but the unsuspected thing was, we have to perform in front of 10+ artisukma dancers..all of us then was like, "wut?!" F6, but then the performance went unscatched and we managed to get the clearance for the costume, yeah!!! :)
to lala:hm, i think we'll get the chance later for the shot, lepas nih aim betul2!!

3. on the way to CM...

but then on the way there, one of the road which is Jalan Hang Tuah was closed!i believed it was due to some riot (not riot per se, more of like people gathering up) pertaining to Anwar Ibrahim being cought or something (hey, come on...don't gather up for something as stupid as that, it's not like he was beaten up or whatever, noobs)...huish org malaysia nih....

then we end up have to do a turn sumwhere and still managed to get to CM and the total spending there was only a mere below rm50 but the souvenirs was good i think, yeah!!cool~~
then we went to petaling street, hoping of getting some accessories for the zapin costume but in the end, it was in vain...huh...

salam & hi...

last saturday was a day of eating madness for me,haha...i ate a lot and i even kill a 'tupai' with my housemate,literally,lol...

in the day, everyone were out at Sg. Congkak, having a program called "bond of ukhuwah" (more details can be found at shah's blog here) but i decided not to tag along coz i have a different agenda, hehehe...

i decided to go to leisure mall and watch hellboy II!! been waiting for it, i even reserved a ticquet for it 2 days earlier, hoho... the movie started at 2.20pm but before that i was feeling hungry coz i ate a light breakfast so i chose to eat at A&W coz i dunno where to eat at leisure mall (i rarely went there, this was the 4th time i guess so far, haha)...

the movie was nice with a good storyline & the characters are well-developed plus a few good fight sequences, i definitely recommend it for everyone even if you are not a Hellboy fan (i'm going to write d review later, ok?).

Enough with that, the real focus for this post is what happened on that night, hehe... I kinda plan with shah earlier that we want to go to Tupai2 (located sumwhere near DBP) & we asked naim+hakim to join us.. honestly, i dunno the place, i just knew about it from hajar's blog but what interest me is the buffet-style, haha...

so, basically none of us knew the direction to that place, we even took the wrong road & ended up making a big circle, fortunately we called Hannah & she give us direction to Tupai2 (tq hannah!!)..oh, almost forgot, on the way back, a funny thing happened while we are listening to Hitz.Fm & once again coz i'm so lazy to write bout it, you can find it at shah's blog here, haha... but the most important thing there was that, i enjoyed eating there and i think we done quite a 'killing spree' (say it DoTA style, ok?) hence i think we kill the 'tupai'..haha..

time 4 d next entry after a long break...been busy putting entry into my online diary so, forgot to post here in the blog, sorry guys...to shah, sorry for not being able to post about ur cousin's marriage...
so, madness?untuk weekend yg lepas seperti aku ader membuat beberapa siri kegilaan dlm spending & going out. so this is how it goes:

madness1: friday nite, zapin+'wanted'

mase friday ari tu ialah latihan & rehersal for zapin yg nk dipersembahkn di amsc japan..seriously i think i need to practice more, still forgetting the steps sumtimes & i want it to be good so that i won't be bringing down the image of ukm & malaysia..but at least that day when we perform it in front of azril (d president of ump's traditional club), he said that it was ok..funny thing that night was, almost all except hui fang were wearing kain pelikat/batik as sampin, the hardest part was to keep it tied and to not let it fall during the tarian..haha..

then, about 11.30pm, lala said that she & a few others are going out for a movie so i decided to tag along..they decided to watch the movie 'wanted', seriously i've already watched it so this would be my 2nd time seeing it but i think it's worth it becoz i really want to hear the music & also see all the bullet actions..so all of us rushed to midvalley coz the show will start around 12.15am so arriving there, i was like "wut??!!", the queue was so looong but fortunately we managed to watch it and i enjoyed every minute of it..

madness2: saturday, 'hancock', new LAN cable, 2 new shirt & eat sumthing expensive >.

in saturday i dun have a lot to do so i decided to went for a movie again and this time it was "hancock"...a nice movie with a twisted ending...i went to watch it at times square and man i was shocked, the queue was so so long (again F7), when i was close to the counter then suddenly an announcement was made...
"to all patrons, please take note, due to some server breakdown, at this counter we only have ticquets for d movie 'hancock' 1.30pm"..and the time at that time was 1.20pm!fortunately i managed to secure a ticquet,haha...

then, i decided to go to lowyat because i need to buy a new LAN cable because d old cable was starting to spew out some problem,aiya...fortunately it does not cost so much, huh....

then, suddenly i got the feeling that there would be a cheap price for shirts in Jusco so, i went on to Jusco Maluri and i was right!!the price for one shirt the cheapest was rm29.00!!so i ended up buying 2 of 'em...haha...one was blue, another one was green...yeah!

then later that night, i join shah & hakim for dinner...1stly, we thought of going to KFC but then we change it to going sumwhere else and it was the restaurant in front of hajris, i can't really remember d name tho...so, more of it can be found in shah's blog here....but seriously the price was off-d-hook!man...

madness3: sunday, being an enumerator & eating a lot :)

well, on Sunday i thought of resting & chill out in my room playing games but....then i remebered that i've to go to SJMC to help the doctors from UKM & a few other medical faculty to do a study on "Men's Health"....nice one, i became an enumerator, 1st time!!yeah!

i went there with roy, lin, ipah, ida & hajar...and all are asked to wear a white colored shirt, so all of us ended up looking like the salesperson from a shopping complex or sumthing, lol F2

then, all of us decided to go to Sunway Pyramid to have our lunch but seriously the girls have other 'hidden agenda'....we ended up spending most of the time waiting for the girls coz they were shopping all over, haha...

fortunately after that we went to Carl's Jr. to have our lunch..yeah!!i ordered a double beef cheeseburger with chilli, nice & a lot too...haha....eating spree~~ (say it DoTA style ok?)

last week, on wednesday was my group case presentation session, it was fun but the best part of it was after the presentation, want to know about it?read on....hehehe F2

It's wednesday (18/6/08)....after a long night with only 5 minutes or so of sleep, finishing my case write-up & presentation, i juz want to sleep but cannot, need to go to CPC, it's anesth turn... i thought it would be a really interesting case but to my demise, it was about hypernatremia!i was like,wut??!!nevermind la,still nice to know but i think the thing that i pickup from that CPC was this line:

"it's better to keep your mouth shut and make people think you're a fool than opening up and removing all doubt," - Mark Twain (if i'm not mistaken)

Nice line isn't it?Well,moving on,after that was the video session by Dr. Shamsiah, it was bout techniques in Cataract surgery, nice one~~ now, i shud be able to do it! (yeah,rite....)

then, it's clinic time with Dr. Then and it was our assessment day! yeah!!! F5
i got a case of POAG, nice but the auntie was highly myopic!cannot focus so well, aiya....
overall, i think evryone did ok la....gratz to all of us,hoho F2

then, finally it was the presentation @ 5pm in the Dept.

A summary of my case:

A 66 years old Chinese lady, known case of type II DM for 17 years, with history of bilateral cataract extraction, presented with nausea & vomiting a/w pain, blurring of vision & redness of left eye. Examination revealed a reduced visual acuity of left eye (6/60) with hazy cornea, shallow AC and asymmetrical pupil. RAPD absent. Fundus views were obscured.

Final Diagnosis:
Retained visco-elastic postphacoemulsification

Explanation:
She's recently underwent phaco of left eye with PC IOL however, the visco-elastic used in that operation was not properly removed post-op so,it caused an atypical angle-closure glaucoma by causing capsular block syndrome (capsular bag distension syndrome). The pathogenesis is as follows; The visco-elastic somehow slipped into the capsular bag behind the IOL. Due to it's high oncotic pressure it draws water behind the IOL which leads to distension of the bag. The distended bag then block pupil opening causing blockage of aqueous drainage, this leads to accumulation of aqueous behind the iris and leads to angle closure later and patient will present with symptoms of ACG.

Management:
Give patient anti-glaucoma medications to control IOP then schedule patient for a laser posterior capsulotomy or AC washout.

after the presentation, around 6.40pm like that, evry other lecturer had finished already, our group also finished the 1st part of d presentation, another 2 person will be tomorrow (a.k.a thursday)...
then as we are going out, to our horror, all the doors were locked!!

fortunately, that door was not blocked and it opened up to a stairwell, it start to get creepy, that stairwell looks weird (kinda)....going down a floor and.........

it's d internal medicine department!!! F2 Fortunately the lecturers here are all hardworking (i think but i do see Prof. Datin Dr. Norella in her room) so, the door leading to the hallway was not locked!yay,we are save!!haha...i forgot to take a video of it, it would've been nice coz it'll looked just like a scene from a horror movie....

khamis,12/6/08 - pagi yg cerah~~~,hari ni sumer student ophthal nk pegi fieldtrip,trip ke sekolah cacat penglihatan sumwhere around setapak,sumer sgt excited pagi tu (aku agak jer,i know i am excited F2)...

tp pagi tu,ader spoil sket sebab hazren ngn faiz tertinggal,sumer berperasaan F7..... (seb baek faiz datang gak akhirnyer ke skolah itu ngn menaiki lrt....)

sesampainyer di sekolah tu,ader la taklimat (cam biase) pasal sekolah tu,sape student dier,sape pengasas & yg paling lawaknyer,ader satu part tu,dier gune program cam 'windows narrator' so,mmg lawak la sumer sebutan dier,x bley blah...x caye?try open program "narrator",haha...

then baru gi lawat around skolah tu,gi library,lab,kafe & etc...

all of you must be wonderin' wut the heck is d meaning of the title rite?well,read on and you'll know... today, a lot of thing happenned in my life (ye la byk.....) sum are good, sum are not good... hoho...

my sunday goes sumthing like this:

shah & akim + naim then went away,leaving me alone in my room....haha... thought of going breakfast sumwhere else but.... (all of them got back around 8+am) around 9.07am..... major setback,due to sumthing not worth mentioning here,i ended up breakfast-ing in my room,huh~~~ FINE... F5 F5 F5

around 11+ am,said gudbye+gudluck (lol, F2) to shah who apparrently will be having fun.... then,12.09pm, went down to my Myvi, start d engine and....

i ended up in..... MidVal (again,haha)..... F2
why?coz i want to watch "the incredible Hulk",yeah!been waiting for this movie,lalala~~~
but i was going round and round the parking lot for almost 30+ min!! F5...no parking....

the place was very very very crowded and the seat was finished!wut??!! F4
fortunately,i'd already reserved the ticquet,haha F2..., this time i got the seat way back from the screen (D13), nice seat... for the whole 2 hours in the cinema, i was like: F2 F2 F6 F2 F5 F7 F5 F2 F5 F3 F5 F2,hahaha....

comment for the movie:
overall: 8.6/10 (A)
graphics/visuals: 8.5/10 (d screen play, d hulk animation, d visual effects were astounding & amazing, d best thing is the final fight sequence between the hulk & the abomination, i was F2+F5 thru out)
characters: 8.0/10 (edward norton & liv tyler as the main actor+actress is quite the right pick)
music+sound: 9.0/10 (the sound effects is good also, the gun sound+missile+bomb were realistic)
storyline: 9.0/10 (start with short intro on how bruce banner became the hulk F5, then how he ran away from the army while beating some people up in the process F2, then how he meet back with betty ross F2, then how the abomination come about F6, then the final fight F2+F5 & then 'the END' F2)
re-watch-ability: 8.5/10 (i feel like i want to watch it back)

the best part in the movie was during the early 30 minutes, got one scene when bruce was corner up by a group of no-good-thugs,he actually said this:
bruce:you won't like it when i'm.. hungry! F5
thugs:wut? F6
bruce:eh,that's not right isn't it? F7
actually he was saying it in portuguese,lol coz for the first 30 minutes the story revolved around in brazil.now you shud understand the title rite?

last weekend i went to GSC MidVal with another 5 of my beloved fren (shah, hajar, ipah, ida, lala), d weekend progress sumthing like this:

i went to MidVal with shah with my beloved Myvi about 1.40pm like that, fortunately the road is clear, so we arrived quite early to MidVal, around before 2pm i think...
Fortunately, i've booked the ticquet already coz it's crowded F6...

* on the way, we saw this performance, cool~~~ *

forgetting the crowd and got the ticquet already, we spot sumthing nice close to the cinema which is:

so, we decided to grab sumthing to eat, btw, that day, i juz took a light breakfast so, feeling hungry at that time, i decided to eat quite a lot, yeah!! F2

as we are finishing, ipah, hajar & ida showed up, sadly, all the foods are finished,haha...

* shared 5 ppl for this drink,btw,which one was my straw?lol *

then, the clock striked 2.54pm so we decided to went in the cinema, on the way, we stop-by at the popcorn counter and shah treat the girls popcorn and i 'pau' hajar for a popcorn,haha F2
owh, and lala showed up just in time, she took d commuter to arrive at MidVal, have sum business down in KLIA.

* cashier: ok, sumernyer rm8+ (can't remember exact amount) *

guess what, we have to sit in the 3rd row (F4) which is quite close to the screen, nevertheless, it is still enjoyable and nice..

comment for the movie:

"overall, i'll give 7.8/10 for the movie, it is a nice movie for all family members especially the youngs, the breakdown is as follows, graphics: 8.5/10 (stunning & 3Dish, just wut u expected from Dreamworks), music+sound: 8.5/10 (d music scores are nice, d voice acting is cool & appropriate), characters: 9/10 (cute & nice development), storyline: 6/10 (quite expected d'uh, typical kungfu movie, hero is stupid & dunno kungfu, lastly become kungfu master & beat the bad guys), replayability or re-watch-ability (or wutever): 7/10 (B+)... "

after the movie, i decided to go and buy sumthing for my mother (it's for her birthday which had already past but hey, the thought is what matters rite?) with the help of the 4 girls!
lastly i decided to buy her a baju kurung, i think the color is nice, wut do u think?

then, we break-off and i & shah decided to went home already (it's 5+pm at that time, haven't pray asar yet! F5)..i decided to press the gas to da max,yeah! (tipu jer nih,haha F2)

so, that sums up last weekend, i think it's a nice weekend :)
but these past few days, i am a bit down due to some problems not worth mentioning here, to all those that i'd hurt for the past few days, i am sorry but i'm just treating u back like how u treat me, dun blame me tho...

yup,it's true,usually on weekend,for the whole 48+ hours i usually end up not opening my book,i usually went to tesco or wutever to restock my supplies (hahaha) or i will play games most of the time...but i think it's okay tho,i need time to replenish my brain's adenosine amount & fill it up with all the endogenous opioids to keep me happy for d coming week,lalalala~~

7. i like d color blue & yellow (or any color close to it) this is d two main color that i like & most of the things that i owned is either blue or yellow,except my phone which is black and my laptop which is white...why i like it?coz blue is d color of the sky & also d sea,natural colors,it gives me d sense of being sumone really small in the hands of Allah and yellow is also d color of the sun (errr...wait,or is it orange?wutever) which is again a natural color...

I think last weekend was one of d best of all my weekend so far in 4th year,why?Becoz i went to 2 all-you-can-eat buffet!!!hahaha...FYI,i like to eat,lol :)

D 1st one was megat's besday (a fren from UMS) @ his parent's cake shop on saturday.I ate 2 kinds of cakes; icecream cake + cheese cake,yum2..Then,to top it off,they also prepared spaghetti + nasi dagang. Alhamdulillah, i was full, dat nite i slept with a full stomach and i think i dreamt about d cake,lol :)

D 2nd one was d wedding of wafy's sister. It was great, d food was nice, d silat was cool & d tarian was very traditional with even a more traditional song,haha... but, this is where sumone said this,"la,klau korang x abis xper,DBKL ader,MPK pon ader gak,"...i was like, FINE!!!wutever la tapi cam btol gak,haha...

BLS?? CPR?? It ain't that easy.......

salam & hi all...

Yesterday good & bad things happenned in my life. The good thing first; finally i got my BLS cert, selepas 2 kali try, huh... 1st time on Tuesday fail mcq, alhamdulillah ari ni reseat mcq & pass... Tq kpd cik Lala yg telah meminjamkn hardcopy soalan pastyear, ur help r very much appreciated!! :)
Before going to d BLS session (again), me with my group went to the OT and tagged with d anest dr in paed & uro OT. They were fun, we done a few procedures and we learned a lot too, including some 'not good' stuffs, hehe.. my group will know wut is this. Then we inserted an IV cannula to each others hand! yep, it was a good morning!

The bad thing; real CPR is not that simple...after getting my cert, i rushed to the A&E dept. because i saw a patient that had cardiac arrest being pushed into the resus room. There, i assisted the Dr, nurses & MA in CPR-ing the patient. Guess what, it's very tiring coz it took around 50+ minutes and lastly, the patient died (may Allah bless him). So, d morale of dis story is that, dun take your BLS skills for granted, it may mean life to sumone else, k?

And yesterday night, sumthing nice also happenned, a fun night i suppose, hehe... :)

penang MS conference;cool~~

salam & hi all,

[this is my first post by the way]

Hujung minggu lepas aku dpt pluang utk pegi ke Pulau Pinang utk hadir ke MS conference. Aku pegi sana bersame zairi,nisa ghazali & atiqah.

In summary; it was splendid!! The lectures were nicely done and the best part of it was the workshop sessions. Mase workshop peserta diberi peluang utk buat a few procedures yg normally no medical students would be allowed to do which is CVP insertion, chest tube insertion, laparoscopic surgery and colonoscopy.

So, basically, hari jumaat a.k.a d first day, ader opening ceremony & the one that officiate it was our deputy DG, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham B. Abdullah. Tp, main highlight utk 1st day ialah d Grand Dinner, makanan dier mmg best & 4 sure aku mkn dengan banyaknyer,hahaha... Then kami kluar berjalan2 di sekitar gurney drive & ambik gmbr but sadly, fon aku abis bateri plak, x dpt la nk ambik gmbr,isk2...

Then, d 2nd day, paginyer ader lecture a bit but i forgot d topics already,lol... D best part of 2nd day ialah workshop,yeah!! Mase workshop ni la aku dpt buat colonoscopy, laparascopic surgery practice, chest tube insertion, CVP insertion, pakai POP, BLS, etc. Slack a bit is dat my time for the lap is 1:33 which is very slow,huish...

Dat nite, we have our BBQ dinner (seriously, gi conference ni cam makan jer lebih,haha). D fud was nice & after that ktorg gi jln2 ke batu ferringhi, komtar & sekitar bandar georgetown.

Hari terakhir a.k.a d 3rd day, nuthing much to say, ader lecture lagi & forum, guess what, dr ismail saiboon & prof ted herbosa (from A&E HUKM) ialah panelist utk forum tu,nice...then d closing ceremony & the conference was officially finished! Tp kami sumer x abis jln2 lagi kat Pulau Pinang so, off we went to Queensbay Mall. But, nuthing much there, biase jer, (org penang jgn marah aaaa) haha...

Well, that's about it, xde ape2 dah yg aku nk ckp 4 this post, so, bye & salam...
